Tools To Get You Started & Help You Succeed With Your Own Blogging Business
This whole internet business & blogging thing consists a lot of moving parts. Once you’ve been working on your business for over year, you realize the Frankenstein-style business you’re creating. You can’t do it with just a blog, you need several other services, software programs, hardware and sometimes even training courses to help you along the way.
Here’s a list of the products, services and other things that I use everyday in my business and highly recommend. I update this page fairly often whenever I start using something new so you can stay up to date with how I’m running my business.
Some of these are affiliate links – so I will get paid when you purchase from these links. (just in case you didn’t know)
Getting Started, What Do I Need First?
Dreamhost: The first thing you need is a Domain & a Hosting plan. All of my websites are hosted using Dreamhost. The best part is that they have the 1-click automatic WordPress installation feature. They’re really easy to use and have great customer service. For a great deal on your monthly hosting plan, use “ZEROTOBLOGGER” as a discount code.
WordPress: The #1 Blog Publishing Platform, hands down. All of my blogs use WordPress. Plus it’s FREE and super easy to use! The WordPress Team is constantly working to improve the platform. Every now and then there are major updates that makes WordPress that much more valuable to us.
WordPress Plugins: Download any plugins, widgets, or customizable elements for your WordPress blog. To get a list of my 9 Favorite plugins, check out this episode of the Business Blogging Podcast.
Aweber: The best Email Management service on the web. It’s the one I use, and I’m sticking with it.
99Designs: This is a pretty cool site where designers compete against each other on your design projects.
Amazon S3: The Amazon Simple Storage Service. This is great for storing really big files (like audios, videos and PDF’s). It’s really cheap, plus you avoid creating bandwidth problems on your own site.
