Multiple Income Streams:
How To Make Money With Your Blog

Let’s get one thing straight before we move forward – Blogs don’t make money, businesses do.

But, you can use your blog as a launching pad for your business and that’s when the money starts coming in. Let me explain…

Most bloggers spend months and months writing articles, recording videos and uploading podcasts without seeing a dime in return for their efforts.

Why is that?

The simple answer is that articles, videos and free content (in any form) do not generate income. What it does is builds relationships, establishes trust, attracts readers and builds your email list.

All of those are great, but when and how does the money come in?

When a blog is turned into a business

A business needs to have something to sell in order for it to be considered a business. A business with no customers is not a business at all.

The idea is to turn the trust and credibility you’ve built so far into cold hard cash. If you want to get paid, you must convert some of those wonderful subscribers that are dancing around in your mailing list into happy customers.

I know.. it’s easier said than done. I’ll get into How to do this in a bit.

First, let’s talk about what you can sell

Ebooks:

Ebooks are downloadable PDF’s that you can offer your audience on a topic they’re interested in.

The great thing about ebooks is that they are super cheap to create and you can have one up and ready to sell in a matter of weeks.

Generally ebooks can be sold (depending on the topic of course) from anywhere between $7.00 and $97.00.

Services:

If you’re serving a market that is actively searching for a solution to their problems, then you can offer consulting. Think about it! You can become a consultant in practically any topic out there; here are a few ideas:

  • income-streamsBlogging (duh!)
  • Home Schooling
  • Home Decor/Interior Design
  • Remodeling
  • Weight Loss
  • Small Business Marketing
  • Muscle Gain/Fitness
  • Make Extra Money From Home
  • Freelance Writing
  • Personal Development
  • and a ton more…

But if consulting is not your thing, you can always offer blog design, backlinking services, article writing, and software programming. I hope these ideas got you thinking…

Membership Sites:

Membership sites are awesome because they provide you with a steady stream of income every month.

There’s a misconception among online marketers that these sites are hard to create and maintained. The thing is that there are a few different ways to set up a membership site – not just one.

You can set up a customer-only email campaign, or a password-protected wordpress site that gets updates every month, or a special report that gets sent to customers every 30 days.

It all depends on what you want and how you want to structure it.

Generally, membership sites can be priced between $9.99/month to $297.00/month for high-end coaching programs.

Software/Plugins:

Whether you’re a technical person or not, you can develop (or pay someone to develop) a software program or plugin to sell to your audience.

I haven’t done this myself, but I know of plenty of bloggers who have taken this route and make a lot of money selling software programs.

Here are some popular bloggers you may know..

You get the point..

Multimedia Courses:

These are great if you want to charge premium prices (which most people do). These courses usually consist of articles, audios and videos.

I currently have two course, (you can check them out here) that I sell. The Blog Planning Workshop is an audio program that also includes text interviews. That one sells for $29.95.

The Podcasting for Bloggers course is a video-based program that sells for $197.00. Here are the 5 tools I used to create these courses:

  • Adobe Audition (paid)
  • OptimizePress (paid)
  • WordPress (free)
  • Amember (paid)
  • PayDotCom (free)

There’s nothing stopping you from creating awesome content and packaging it to sell. So go out there and do it.

Now, how do you convert qualified prospects into first-time buyers?

I probably can’t turn you into a conversion king (or queen) with this lesson alone. Conversion takes a lot of learning, effort, testing and practice.

One of the most important skills you will ever need in your business is the skill of writing effective sales copy. Copywriting is the art of delivering words that get people to take some sort of action.

You need to learn how to write sales letter in order to get people to take out their credit cards and give you money.

You need to learn how to communicate the value of your product, service or membership site so that your prospects can understand why they need it.

You need to create a bridge between the problem they face with the solution your product or service provides.

Again, this all takes a lot of work, testing and practice – but it is definitely achievable. There will be more posts about both copywriting and getting sales published on my blog in the coming months – promise.

Is This The End…?

Well, yes and no.

While this is the end of this course, I will continue sending you more content and information via email in the coming months. I also email you about any new projects, products and posts.

So keep and eye out.. I really hope you enjoyed this 8-part course and I’d love to hear what you thought about it.

Please send me an email using the contact me page. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks again so signing up, Talk soon…
